Position: Senior Labor Relations Consultant
Location: Washington, DC, Metropolitan Area

The consulting firm is affiliated with the national labor and employment law firm FordHarrison LLP. FHSG and FordHarrison work closely together to offer clients a full slate of services.

FHSG is currently seeking a full-time professional to telework and serve as a senior labor relations consultant in the Washington, DC area.

This is a remote position, however this position requires the successful candidate to attend weekly staff meetings at our office location at 1 Thomas Circle in Washington, DC, as well as travel for client work as required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Research industry trends and develop benchmark comparisons for pay rates, work rules, and benefit plans.
  • Analyze collective bargaining agreements to identify areas of risk and liability for the client.
  • Prepare reports and presentations that clearly communicate complex information.
  • Advise clients on best practices for collective bargaining negotiations and labor relations policies.
  • Support clients during labor negotiations by assisting in the development of costing models, analyzing union proposals and drafting contract language.
  • Track news stories related to labor relations and inform clients through daily and/or weekly updates.
  • Assist clients in contract negotiations.
  • Up to 30% travel required for client business.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • At least five years of related experience.
  • Labor negotiations experience preferred but not required.
  • Airline labor relations experience preferred but not required.
  • Academic and/or work experience in the field of labor relations preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Detail oriented and well organized with the ability to work on multiple projects at once.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to work legally in the United States.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word required.
  • Strong Excel skills, including cost modelling preferred.
