Hearing Officer Training

We help new and experienced hearing officers develop confidence in conducting hearings on both disciplinary and contractual disputes. Our training focuses on best practices to run an efficient and thorough proceeding. We use real world examples to bring the material to life. The training is interactive and seeks to simulate common issues that arise during hearings.

Our training covers the following:

  • Brief overview of the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) or Railway Labor Act (RLA)
  • What a hearing officer needs to understand
  • Preparing for the hearing
  • Conducting the hearing
  • Dealing with evidence
  • Making and responding to objections
  • Establishing a good record for an arbitrator’s review
  • Understanding discipline
  • Examples of cases/board awards
