Tip Tuesday: 5 Ways to Focus and Throw Multitasking Out the Door
June 21, 2022

Multitasking is often looked at as a necessity in today’s distracted and fast-moving world. Many job descriptions explicitly state the importance of multitasking as an important trait for a candidate. However, research shows that it is next to impossible to perform at their highest possible level when they are trying to multitask.

How can we practice a more focused approach to getting projects done? What would you add to the list?

  1. Find a quiet, undisturbed space in your office when you need to use full concentration.
  2. Get up and move for 10-15 minutes.
  3. When trying to focus, put your cell phone in a drawer and forward calls to your work phone.
  4. Write out exactly what you need to do and follow the list in order.
  5. Close out of your email platform to disable those pesky email pop-ups.
